BananaLassi-BHW17

Banana Lassi - BHW17:

Second by Second, Minute passes
Minute by Minute, Hour passes
Hour by Hour, Day passes
Day by Day, Month passes
Month by Month, Year passes
Thus the time passes.
and as it passes it reminds me BHW every month.

Oh my god, early in the morning what happened to me writing a poem which I composed. I am really tempted today to put a post which is sourced from my sweet blogger, Sangeetha from her blog, Spicy Treats for the second time. She is that sweet to update me, stating last time as she was not well couldn't post from my blog. Thus, she will post it definitely this time. And she is really so sweet her post - Chole Mint Bhat is the first entry linked for this time Blog Hop Wednesday 17, which was recreated from my post Aloo Pudina Bhat.  Thanks a lot Sangeetha. Thanks Radhika to link both of us once again in Blog Hop Wednesday.

My dear readers, Blog Hop Wednesday (BHW) is a monthly event on Tickling Palates, which strikes me on every 1st of the month and I visit google groups to check with whom I am paired and to find out what recipe I could make and link it. This is 17th Series and its a second version of BHW.

As it is summer, I selected an instant drink this time which I love since ages, and that's the yummy Lassi. I remember those days, where mom used to take me to Sreeraj Lassi Bar, which is famous in Bangalore and I used to order for a flavored Lassi. Always my drink used to be Sweet Lassi. But now, I have started adding fruits to Lassi. Great da, they have a website now, i came to know only today.

Ingredients:
Banana - 1 riped
Curds or Yogurt - 1/2 cup
Water - 1/4 cup
Sugar - 4 tsp (salt also can be used instead of sugar)
Raisins - few

Method:
Peel the skin from the banana
Chop the banana into pieces
Add curds, water and sugar along with banana into a blender and blend it well
Garnish with raisins, your lassi is ready -:)

MangoBreadLaddoos

Mango Bread Laddoos:

Today's breakfast is Mango Bread Laddoos. Taste was a hit.

This is Mango Season, and you will get varieties of mangoes in Bangalore, where I stay.  The different varieties of Mangoes are:
Tothapuri
Alphonso
Amrapalli
Malbuba
Kesar

for more, click here.

Normally Mangoes are found during Summer from March to June and then slowly fade away. This fruit is the "king of all fruits" and the taste is great.

Sekarni was a hit in my Breakfast Thali which was made up of Mangoes. Today I had mango puree and wanted to try a new recipe. I love to have bread with milk and sugar which is Bread Porridge. I gave a twist to my porridge and came up with Mango Bread Laddoos.

Ingredients:
Mango Puree - 1/2 cup
Wheat Bread - 4
Maida Bread - 3
Orange Jam - 4 tbsp (sugar/ any other jam can be used instead of this)

Method:
Chop a mango and extract the puree
Mix it with Orange Jam
Cut the bread into small pieces and mix it well with hand so that you get consistency
Now make round shape
Put a bread crumb on top of laddoos and serve

Here is the pic:

Hema's Breakfast Thali

Hema's Breakfast Thali:

I am seriously inspired by my friends blog especially Vaishali's blog - Ribbons to Pastas and the way she takes time to arrange her food for photo and for her family. No doubt children will eat little more food by seeing the decoration.

Yesterday night we had chopped mangoes (3 fruits) but we couldn't eat more. So I had put into the refrigerator by thinking that I could make Mango MilkShake, today. Today morning the milk came late and I couldn't prepare it at home. So quickly packed 3/4 of the chopped mangoes and 3/4th of pomegranate fruit into my lunch box.

In today's Swathi book they had given sample "Britannia Savory Oats", my father-in-law gave me that also. I told fine, let me enjoy a beautiful heavy but healthy breakfast thali today at office.

Once I came into office kept my laptop aside and ran into pantry. Took two serving bowls and in one I had put "Britannia Savory Oats" powder and a full cup of water and left in oven for 2 minutes. This Savory oats comprises of Oats, cashew nuts, salt, spices and herbs (cumin, mustard, ginger, green chilli, asafoetida, curry leaf, parsley), yeast extract, and anticaking agent.

Ingredients for Oats Puliyogare:
Britannia Savory Oats - 35g packet
Water - 1 cup
Milk - 1/2 cup (Optional)
Puliyogare Mix - 2 tbsp

Method:
  • Pour Oats in a cup which is microwave safe and put hot water on top of it, mix it well
  • Leave the mixture in microwave for 2 minutes
  • Now add 1/2 cup milk and mix it well
  • Put puliyogare mix and mix it well
  • Decorate with peeled carrot slices and pomegranate seeds and keep it in breakfast thali

Second one in the thali was Mango Sekarni:
  • Peel the skin off from mango and smash it to make a puree
  • Sprinkle pomegranate seeds on it and mix it well
  • Add sugar and 1/2 cup of milk
  • Decorate with peeled carrot (as carrot is little sweet in taste it matches well). Keep it in breakfast thali.

Keep the other ingredients - Cocojel, Mazaa, Coffee.

Enjoy the breakfast feast.

Engagement Thali - Mixed Fruits Icecream

Engagement Thali - Mixed Fruits Icecream:

Impressed by Thalis shown at Blogging Marathon - 15 I came up with this Thali. As my blog was celebrating Hema's Adugemane Marathon.

Oops, mine was a love marriage so it directly went to marriage and did not have a sweet function like Engagement which is called as "Lagnapatrike" in kannada. After a bride is selected for a groom, they held this function and write the date to fix the marriage date.

Sweet, snacks would be arranged and I have made the simplest one.

This Thaali contains:

Sweet   Chandrakala
Icecream
   Mixed Fruit Icecream
Snacks
  Fryums
  Mixture
  Baby aloo masala
baby aloos cooked well, sprinkled with pepper and salt

Ingredients:
Milk - 1/2 cup
Papaya - 3 pieces
Watermelon - 3 pieces
Banana - 1/2
Sugar Sachets - 4
Butter - 1 tsp

Method:

Mash all the fruits and mix it with milk

Add sugar and mix it well

Melt butter and add sugar to it, to get a caramelization effect

After 6 hours it turned out to be ice

One more shot in a diff angle

Thus, my marathon ends here:

Apple Icecream

Apple Icecream:

Apple Icecream

On Sunday, it was my 6th day and I prepared Apple Icecream. I sourced in youtube and came to know how to prepare Homemade Icecream. As I was celebrating Fruits Delight, I wanted to try out Apple Icecream.

I was not in a hurry while doing this post for sure, but as I tried this for the first time I did not take pics other than the final icecream one.

Before jumping onto the recipe, let me tell you something about Apples. In India among apples we have various types like australian apple, american apple, and the normal one. But the normal one tastes better than the rest. This is just my thought/view. There's a saying which goes like this "An apple everyday keeps doctor away". So just to amaze the kids you can try out this also.

This post is for my marathon - Hema's Adugemane Marathon

Coming to the recipe:

Ingredients:
Milk - 1 1/2 cup
Sugar - 4 tbsp
Cocoa Powder - 1 tsp
Apple - 1

Method:
Chop the apple
Put it into blender along with little milk and sugar
Once apples are blended remove it to a serving dish and mix the remaining milk and cocoa powder. Mix it well.
Pour the mixture into a dining glass
And leave it in refrigerator for 6 hours or until it is thickened
Remove the glass and leave it in water for 10 to 15 mins
And turn the glass upside down so that the icecream comes out of the glass

I and Aadya just tasted them as we catch cold very quicly. While Aditya and Saketh enjoyed this icecream completely.

I was assuming all these days that we must require icecream powder but expertVillage videos in Youtube showed me that it can be made this easily. Thanks to expertVillage. I entered www.expertVillage.com and I got www.ehow.com.

This post is for my blogging marathon - Hema's Adugemane Marathon

I planned to do Steamed Banana Cake but after steaming it turned out to be halwa. Hence made it in the shape of burger and used it along with bread as a sandwich.

Orange Jam

Orange Jam:
Today is the 4th day of my blogging marathon and successfully I have climbed 7 floors for the 4th day.

Orange Jam is made with the fruit. Thanks a lot to Srivalli as she did not give an entry I have understood what made her not to give an entry to me. Thanks for my colleague, friend, well-wisher - Davameena and Poornima who passed on a proper comment stating that my posts are good only from this marathon. Yep an healthy criticism could change a life.

Oranges strangely enough, did not get it's name from its colour but rather from an ancient Sanskrit word meaning "fragrant". In fact, people have prized this golden fruit for its beauty and scent for years

Three ways oranges keeps you Healthy
a. Boost you immune system
b. Banishes pneumonia
c. Helps prevent Cancer "Big C"

Ingredients:
Orange - 2
Water - 2 cups
Sugar - 100 gms

Method:
Peel off the skin from Orange and use it to make Orange Iced Cold Tea or something out of it.
Use the peeled orange fruit for this jam.
Cut it into small pieces (as much small as u can) and put it in water atleast for 20 hours.

I blended the mixture after 20 hours along with the same water.
Measure the mixture and add equal amount of sugar keep it aside
Cooked in medium flame for 30 minutes. The liquid will boil and become half of it.
Then add sugar to the boiling mixture slowing by stirring.
Leave the sugar to dissolve and keep stirring occasionally.
Once the foam is formed check the consistency and keep stirring so that the bottom wouldn't burn
Take a drop and check if it is like a heavy dropping one then switch off the stove.
Store it in air tight container.

Source: Indobase
Preparation Time: 24 hours + 15 minutes
Cooking Time: 45 minutes
I could prepare 100gms of jam with 2 small oranges.

How much I have got motivated is here:

I did Orange Iced Cold Tea in the office yesterday. So I had cut the oranges into small pieces and put it in water cups then I shifted them into my water bottle. Just to prepare this and doesn't wanted to miss my marathon I got up at 4:45am and started working on it since 5:30am. My little son Aadya got up, holding him I could work on this and it got completed exactly by my MIL got up at 6:15am. I mean my gratitude to Srivalli and her mail which said "Since I make it a mandatory rule for everybody to comment, it should be made a wasted journey"
Snapshot of her mail

Yep taken it in a right manner I could start up with this blogging marathon called Hema's Adugemane Marathon.
